With the weather finally getting warmer and the semester nearly over, students are getting a taste of what summer will hold. Although finals are near and deadlines are coming fast, this doesn’t stop some students from enjoying some much needed time outside.

“When the weather starts to get warmer like this, I like to play volleyball and ride my bike,” freshman Matt Bertollo said.

Junior Joe Topa takes advantage of the warmer weather by going for runs outside and taking his dog for long walks.

“He enjoys the people,” Topa said. “Maybe a little too much.”

For other students out there who also enjoy doing activities outside, you’re in luck. There are many activities coming up that are taking advantage of this weather.

On Friday, April 21, BSU will be hosting their Midnight Cookout, which will start at 5 p.m. in the quad in front of North Hall. Activities will include a zip line, giant hamster ball race and a midnight movie screening.

Moose Madness, an annual end of the spring semester event, will be taking place this Saturday, April 22 from 1-5 p.m. This event includes activities such as tie dying shirts, inflatables, games and more.

On the last day of classes, the annual Luau hosted by RHA and UCPB will take place. This will include food, inflatables and games.

RHA president George Archundia talked a little bit more about this event.

“Luau is an annual event that is held on the last day of classes,” Archundia said. “At this event, we have inflatables for the residents to partake in, as well as other activities. Some of those being Hippo Chow Down, Zip Line and a fundraiser involving the opportunity to dunk an RA or Area Coordinator. We have been working with UCPB for the last two years, and they have provided food, which includes walking tacos, walking baked potatoes and walking ice cream sundaes.

“In addition to that, we provide mock cocktails at the event and we are going to educate on responsible drinking. The purpose of this is for students to have a nice relaxed day before finals start, but also get students in the summer mood.”

Don’t miss out on these fast-approaching events because, like this semester, they will be over in the blink of an eye.
