Where are you from?
Riverside, California
What college did you graduate from?
Skidmore College in 2022. Health and Human Physiology Sciences degree.
When is your birthday?
April 16
Why were you interested in this position?
I recently was the assistant softball coach for the last three years here and one of my main duties was academic advisor for the softball team so I would run weekly meetings with first years and anybody who had a lower GPA and we would go over academics we would also talk about anything that they may be struggling with personally. I would help them accumulate to college and I really enjoy being a part of the student experience. I also have worked with Kari (Bean) previously and been in the office. I love that atmosphere and I thought it would be a great fit.
What are your strengths?
I’m a quick learner. I’m organized. I like things to be in order. I like things to look nice because then it works well for everyone else. If I can make it easier for other people to do work I love to do that. I am very empathetic which can go both ways so I can relate to people and understand where they are coming from. It can be a weakness of mine because sometimes it can get a little out of hand. I’m going to have to work on a little bit (to) figure out how to let students work through a problem without me doing everything for them. The point of an opportunity program is to, yes, provide a space where students can have support academically and socially but it’s also to teach students to live in the world and be responsible.
What motivates you to do your best at your job?
The students but of course my coworkers. I want to work well with them but it’s about the students so I really want to create a positive environment and a positive experience. I want to see you guys succeed and don’t want to see you fail so I think that will be the driver for me. I really just want to give all what I can give so that you guys can hopefully give some of it back.
