Students from across the area gathered at Utica University on March 5 as the Utica Christian Club hosted a multi-campus fellowship night for an evening of games, worship, food and fun. Organizers said it was a hit for everybody and the evening was filled with joy.
Almost 60 students attended the event that took place in Strebel Lounge.
The fellowship night had a goal of strengthening not only connections among Christian clubs but students’ individual relationships with their faith as well. By providing a safe place for students to worship freely this event was powerful and created a sense of belonging for Christians, according to participants. A club member said the event highlighted the positive impact that faith-centered gatherings can have on students.
According to Cathy Craig, the intervarsity representative for the Utica University Christian Club, the event had a strong turnout and left a positive impact on all the students who attended. After a lot of planning and organizing Craig said she was grateful for the outcome of the event.
“Utica University Intervarsity Christian Fellowship collaborated with SUNY Poly and three other campuses for a fun night of friendship, Bible Jeopardy, prayer and worship,” Craig said.
Throughout the evening, students participated in multiple different activities designed to spark interaction and discussion. The most popular event of the evening was Bible Jeopardy where teams from different schools worked together to answer questions about Scripture. The game created a lively and engaging environment that also encouraged the studying of the Bible.
Samantha Towle, vice president of the club, said that she had a lot of fun and felt that the atmosphere of the night was very powerful. Her favorite event of the night was Bible jeopardy and she loved how everyone was able to expand their knowledge of Jesus and the Bible with fun games.
“One of the highlights for me was seeing everyone come together, especially during the Bible Jeopardy game,” Towle said. “It was not only fun, but it was also really meaningful to watch people think about Scripture in a different way and learn more about Jesus through it. I also really loved the worship because it created a really powerful atmosphere. Overall, the event felt like a great balance of fellowship, fun and faith, and it was really encouraging to see college students engaged and enjoying the night together praising Jesus.”
In addition to the games, the night included a time for group worship and prayer. Students gathered to praise the lord through singing and praying. By bringing multiple schools together, organizers hoped to foster a strong bond and community for students who share similar beliefs.
Organizers said they hope to continue hosting events like this in the future as a way to build relationships and encourage students in their faith.
“The fellowship night was so amazing, the impact it had on campus was beautiful,” said Hannah Salter, the president of the club. “You could really see God moving through all the campus that was there. It was such a special, impactful and love filled night.”
