Anthony Cittadino, Sports Editor

The Utica College men’s basketball team hosted Misericordia University Friday evening in a non-conference Go 4 The Goal Game. The Pioneers came into this one winless on the season with a record of 0-5. UC couldn’t hold off the Cougars as they drop their sixth game of the season losing 98-76.

The Pioneers struggled through both halfs against the Cougars giving up 46 in the first half and 52 in the second.

Freshman Hunter Remley led the Pioneers in scoring with 20 points. Remley went 5-6 from behind the arc.

Senior captain, Agim Hamiti also came up big for the Pioneers, shooting 50 percent from the field while scoring 16 points.

The Cougars really shined in percentage, they shot 55 percent from the floor and 47 percent from downtown.

Misericordia’s top scorer for the night was sophomore Jason Kenny with an impressive 28 points.

The Pioneers had another tough night from the charity stripe shooting 50 percent.

Senior Ivan Iton also came up big for the Pioneers with 14 points and nine rebounds and four blocks.

The Pioneers return to action this Tuesday as SUNY Canton hosts them to start their two game road trip. UC will look to gain their first win of the season against the Kangaroos.
