The Women in Sport Summit is set to take place on Friday, April 5 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Clark Athletic Center. The summit will feature a panel of experts speaking on topics related to strength and conditioning, nutrition, sports-related health and wellness, and equity.
The event is free, open to the public and students and can stop in at any point.
Guest speakers include four-time Olympian and Team USA Women’s Ice Hockey gold medalist Angela Ruggiero, fellow four-time Olympian and Team USA Women’s Luge Bronze Medalist Erin Hamlin and Judd Ehrlich, director of the documentary “Keepers of the Game.”
Athletic Director David Fontaine said Utica University is excited to host the Women in Sport Summit and honored to have accomplished panelists and individuals on campus.
“We look forward to hearing their stories and learning the path they have taken to become leaders in their respective sports,” Fontaine said. “We are expecting an outstanding event and encourage all to attend.”
The documentary “Keepers of the Game,” will also be shown with a Q&A session to follow.
Held in conjunction with the International Ice Hockey Federation(IIHF) Championship, all participants will receive a free ticket for the Canada vs Switzerland game at 3 p.m. on April 5 at the Adirondack Bank Center. The IIHF Women’s World Championship is a 12-day tournament held at the Utica University Nexus Center and Adirondack Bank Center. It will include 29 games and has been a long awaited event for people in Utica as well as the athletes themselves.
