Binge-watching TV shows has been the trend among Utica College students these days.

Companies such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and more have given them the opportunity to binge-watch TV series. They provide many shows, new and old, along with movies.

“Narcos” and “The Office” are well-known TV series that have been available on Netflix for a few years. “Narcos” has a rating of 8.9 on TV.com and IMDb and “The Office” has a rating of 8.8 on IMDb and nine on TV.com.

“I binge-watch ‘Narcos’ and ‘The Office,’” senior Luke Pena said. “Because ‘The Office’ is hilarious and ‘Narcos’ is just so cool because it’s actually based on true events, but it looked so different from a TV point of view.”

Another TV series that students have been watching is “Breaking Bad.” It is considered a very good TV show among many UC students and around the world as well. It received a rating of 9.5 on IMDb and 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Vince Gilligan, the producer of “Breaking Bad,” is known for producing great sci-fi TV series.

“I love ‘Breaking Bad,’” said junior Ryan Berman, a business major.  “It’s a great show. It makes you want to keep watching it over and over. That’s a great show overall and I recommend it.”

Besides live-action TV series, animated TV series have been trending as well.

“Rick and Morty” is an animated TV show that is very hilarious among students. The TV show received good responses with high ratings. The show scored a 9.4 on IMDb and 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. The amazing contents and the adventures are very entertaining.

South Hall resident assistant Jason Whyte, a nursing major, believes that “Rick and Morty” is actually better than the other animated TV series.

“The show I binge-watch the most is ‘Rick and Morty,’” Whyte said. “It’s better than ‘Family Guy,’ it’s better than all of the other cartoons. Why? Because it’s different, it has parallel universes included in there, there is science experiments that Rick is always making and it is just cool and funny.”
