Utica College fell short at the Empire 8 Championships, finishing in fifth place after the first day and sixth on the second.

Despite the outcome, freshman Mason Munger isn’t too discouraged.

“I felt great about the outcome of this match. Our team continues to improve and keeps doing better than previous Utica golf teams,” Munger said.

While Munger remains positive about the future of the team, he wasn’t pleased with his own performance.

“My individual performance this weekend was terrible,” Munger said. “I have been going through swing changes since I got to Utica and haven’t been able to find a rhythm, so I struggled. With this week ahead of me, I will work hard to make sure I get my swing back to feel even better about this Friday’s tournament.”

Junior Aaron Agosto also remains optimistic about the team’s future.

“The outcome of this match wasn’t as great as we expected,” Agosto said.

“We all had frustrating rounds at this tough golf course, but we have to keep in mind that we are a young team.”

The Pioneers will continue the championship tournament in the spring. Currently, UC is in sixth place out of the eight participating teams.
